A small group of people recently spent time on a Saturday cleaning up a popular target shooting area. They removed over two tons of garbage at their own expense and without being asked.
*** PRESS RELEASE November 30, 2020 ***
Last Friday, November 27, the Utah 百丽宫appapp Sheriff's Office received a Facebook message from a page called "Messengaro Importante", or roughly translated "Important Messenger" (According to Google Translate!). The message said, in part, "We purchased an older dump truck to donate time and effort to keep the westside of Utah Lake, SITLA and BLM area cleaner and free of trash. . . . This was done in hopes to make shooters more aware that littering leads to closure and we would like local area support."
I asked this person if they would mind sending me pictures to share on social media. The attached photos are what were sent to me after they removed trash Saturday, November 28. This is the message this person, who did not share their name, wants to send:
"We are all shooters, and this is all our land. Our unity is to keep it as clean, safe and fun as possible. BLM, SITLA, and Public Lands are valuable, let's continue to work to keep them open."
In their efforts this group removed 4,400 pounds of garbage! That is over a TWO TONS of garbage left behind by careless users of this land! The Utah 百丽宫appapp Sheriff's Office would like to express our sincere thanks to this group of people for their effort to clean up what others have left behind. We should all support their effort to keep public lands open for all to use!
